Peace I leave with you

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

When there is loss and grief it can feel overwhelming and confusing to the point that it’s hard to believe that we can ever carry on in our normal way again. But with God’s great love and help, we do. Jesus gives us peace, but not the sort of peace that is temporary or just a distraction from pain and sorrow. His peace is a type of balm and comfort that is deep and enduring. All we have to do is to go to him in prayer, and peace will descend like rain, soothing and healing our wounds, and removing fears. Jesus tells us to not let our hearts be troubled because he is the source of all peace; he calmed the sea and steadied the waters, and he does this for us too. The beauty of this limitless giving of our Lord is that when we feel his peace, we are able to share it with others who may also be sorrowing. The peace of our Lord is transferable and in endless supply. During our darkest moments, there is really only one path that is guaranteed to ease our hearts, and that is the one that takes us to Jesus who always keeps his promise to comfort us and to be with us.

Peace and love to all my brothers and sisters.
