A prayer to commence your worship service.

I find great inspiration in the Psalms and sometimes I compose prayers for my congregation based on certain Psalms that inspire me. This prayer is based on Psalm 85, full of praise and hope in the Lord.

There is no need for us to look further because nothing in the world compares to you.
Mighty protector, you shield us from danger.
Great comforter, your holy spirit brings us peace in times of trouble.
You guide us with a gentle hand, showing us the right path, when all around is confusion.
The blessings you bestow on us are countless, we cannot number them.
And though we may stumble on our path, your mercy is limitless,
and you forgive us all our shortcomings.
You have kept your promises throughout the ages,
your covenant sealed with the precious blood of your Son,
Jesus Christ our holy Lord.
This is your everlasting promise to us, that you will gather us to you,
forever to be yours and safe in your care.
There may be occasions when the road we travel becomes rocky,
when we may be tempted to stray from your side.
Grant that we will stand firm in your love, come what may,
and may our trust in you withstand all the things that arise that may challenge our loyalty to you.

May we love you always and bind ourselves to you with unbreakable ties.
