Living Water

Living Water

The water that Jesus is referring to is the gift of his saving grace. Here he is speaking to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well, and although she was an outcast in her own community, it didn’t stop her from spreading the news of Jesus coming. She understood that he was the Messiah and did not waste any time converting her people, such was her passion, and compassion. Here in Australia we live on an extremely dry continent and water is precious, the same as it was in Judea. Without water, we perish. Without the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, we too perish and our souls wither. Imagine water that never runs out, like an endless spring that bubbles up inside us, reliable, refreshing, life giving and eternal. The word of God and the love of his precious Son quench our spiritual thirst and these things water the seeds of peace, love and understanding that is so needed in the world today. Let us all approach the well like the Samaritan woman, with clear minds and hearts open to the presence of our Lord. We will never be thirsty again.
