A little bit about me.

Hi, I’m Kate and welcome to my site! I stumbled into lay preaching several years ago when our Methodist congregation could no longer afford to pay our minister’s stipend. I joined the newly formed ministry team and, since then, I’ve been on a steep learning curve, conducting services, writing sermons and prayers, and compiling devotionals for my church family. I guess you can say that I fell into preaching accidentally. With “Tell Out My Soul” my intention is to share my thoughts and resources with Christians and seekers everywhere. Thank you for joining me on my journey… Kate 💜😊

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

The mission

My work here is all about raising awareness of God’s presence in the world and also to help those who find themselves in a similar situation to myself, being called upon to do God’s work and having to start from scratch as “accidental preachers,” full of passion but not traditionally trained. I’m sharing what I’ve learned so far so that the path to Jesus can be a little smoother and clearer for others.

Resources

While I was born and raised in the Catholic faith, I’m now a member in association of a Methodist congregation, and my ministry leans towards an ecumenical approach concerning the teachings of Jesus. We follow in his footsteps in different and meaningful ways and all of these pathways contain fundamental truths that enrich our faith and bind us closely to God. Most of the posts comprise the sermons that I’ve written for the worship services that I’ve been responsible for over the course of the liturgical year. There are also sections containing devotionals and prayers.

The name comes from the first line of the hymn of the same name, written by Timothy Dudley Smith in 1967. The lyrics are based on the Magnificat, the beautiful and soaring prayer that Mary pronounces during the Visitation. The first verse of the Timothy Dudley Smith’s hymn goes like this:

Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord!
Unnumbered blessings give my spirit voice;
Tender to me the promise of God’s word;
In God my Savior shall my heart rejoice.

What I have aimed for in my website, Tell Out My Soul, is to tell out God’s greatness, to show that we are truly blessed, that God’s words are precious and that, most importantly, all joy and all peace comes from our loving Saviour. God bless you all and thank you for visiting.
