God’s plan

God’s plan

Jeremiah always knew exactly how to get at the heart of the matter; there is never any beating around the bush with this amazing prophet. The answers aren’t always obvious to us, no matter how hard we strive. There are days when it is next to impossible to find direction, when problems assail us on all sides, and our hearts begin to crumble. Where to turn? Sometimes these situations, these black days, can lead to a deeper depression, to hopelessness. Many times troubles are made worse by fatigue and exhaustion, and our emotions become difficult to contain; they overwhelm us.

It’s easy to conclude that this can’t be part of a plan. How can this confusing mess we sometimes call our life make any sense? Today was one of those days for me, so I did the most comforting thing I could do and I went to my online Bible and looked at the verse for the day… and there it was. More importantly, there he was, trusty Jeremiah.

The Lord has plans for our good, always our good, but we need to call on him. The Lord is our future, he is our hope! If we seek him, we will find him, that’s a guarantee. Life is confusing, often times it’s a struggle, but Jeremiah tells us that the Lord has a plan for us and whatever it is we are going through, it is part of his plan. Sometimes we just need to lean in to it, and seek the Lord; he always shows up for us. We may not see the details right now, but God knows the big picture of our lives; it’s not random, it’s God’s plan. And Jeremiah reminds us that his plan is for our welfare, and not evil. God is good, all the time so, dear brothers and sisters, let us look to the future while we deal with our present; hope in the Lord, always. Amen.
